These are ultra-short stories written for the Applewood Manor. Applewood is the Asheville, North Carolina bed and breakfast owned by my son Stephen Collins, and his wife Robin. Most of the stories are about 500 words in length, and there are more coming. Having never written short stories, I am enjoying doing this different kind of writing. Because each story stands on its own, I do not have to deal with the laborious task of editing a 50,000-word manuscript—a task I have never liked doing.
